1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
King James Version
3 For this is the will of God,
even your sanctification,
that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know
how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence,
even as the Gentiles which know not God:
What is fornication?
It's defined as sexual activity between people who are not married.
So that also includes adultery, and acts not acceptable to GOD.
The LORD considers the body the temple of His Holy Spirit.
An example of fornication is revealed by Scripture:
1 Corinthians 5:1
King James Version
5 It is reported commonly
that there is fornication among you,
and such fornication as is not so much as named
among the Gentiles,
that one should have his father's wife.
We must be aware of how sacred our bodies are.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17
King James Version
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God,
him shall God destroy;
for the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are.
The body being holy, apostle Paul urges us to offer it as a "living sacrifice" to the Father.
Romans 12:1-2
King James Version
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies
a living sacrifice,
holy,
acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.
Thus, he commands us to "flee fornication", so we can glorify God in our bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:15-20
King James Version
15 Know ye not that your bodies
are the members of Christ?
shall I then take the members of Christ,
and make them the members of an harlot?
God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he
which is joined to an harlot is one body?
for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication.
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body;
but he that committeth fornication
sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God,
and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body,
and in your spirit, which are God's.
The body is for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 6:13
King James Version
13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats:
but God shall destroy both it and them.
Now the body is not for fornication,
but for the Lord;
and the Lord for the body.
When you've become a true born again, you will understand things of the Spirit.
And you will begin walking with the Spirit.
You will have the strength to say no to the lusts of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16
King James Version
16 This I say then,
Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil
the lust of the flesh.
