Proverbs 16:2

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;
but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
Scripture has some very interesting things to tell us.
Such as there is no person who can claim to be clean.
Proverbs 20:9

9 Who can say,
I have made my heart clean,
I am pure from my sin?
Only GOD, for sure, can say who we are.
Only He knows our hearts.
JESUS knew "what was in man":
John 2:24-25

24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them,
because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man:
for he knew what was in man.
Scripture speaks of the quality (or lack of it) of our hearts.
Proverbs 21:2

2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
Jeremiah 17:9-10

9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked:
who can know it?
10 I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins,

Matthew 12:34-35

The only way to have a pure heart, is to look to Jesus.
Acts 4:12
