HOW to KNOW if we have sinned

 

JESUS said:

Luke 5:32 

King James Version

32 I came not to call the righteous, 

but sinners to repentance.

How do we know if we have sinned?

As a kid, we were taught the "10 commandments".

What we were not given, were the details for each.

No matter what age, I believe we have the capability to understand.

But everything was given in passing, and not dwelt upon.

I wish they were dwelt upon, so I may have sinned less.

I wish they were explained by the priests, but I received no such instruction.

We were given a "general" overview of sin.

What has been your experience as a kid with regards to being taught what sin is?

Do you know God's commandments, too?

How have you fared in following those commandments?

Do you believe those commandments matter?

It was only when the Holy Spirit led me to two videos on America that I realized how grave our mistakes were, not just in America.

Sin was universal.

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, 

and come short of the glory of God;

What sins were featured on those videos?

These verses aptly describe the horror and gravity of our errors upon God:

Galatians 5:19-21 

King James Version

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, 

which are these; 

Adultery, fornication, 

uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, 

variance, emulations, wrath, 

strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, 

drunkenness, revellings, 

and such like: 

of the which I tell you before, 

as I have also told you in time past, 

that they which do such things 

shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous 

shall not inherit the kingdom of God? 

Be not deceived: 

neither fornicators, nor idolaters, 

nor adulterers, nor effeminate, 

nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, 

nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, 

shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Not to mention the abominations we have committed, knowingly, and unknowingly, upon the heart of God.

If we are of God, we cannot be friends with the world, as you will see from the following verses:

1 John 5:19

19 And we know that we are of God, 

and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

James 4:4

King James Version

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, 

know ye not that the friendship of the world 

is enmity with God? 

whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world 

is the enemy of God.

Colossians 3:1-2 

King James Version

3 If ye then be risen with Christ,

 seek those things which are above, 

where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, 

not on things on the earth.

God's laws are clear and precise.

Sin is sin.

Nothing is hidden from the Lord.

JESUS Himself said:

Luke 12:2-3 

King James Version

2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; 

neither hid, that shall not be known.

3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness 

shall be heard in the light; 

and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets 

shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

And how the Lord hates hypocrisy.

Matthew 7:5

5 Thou hypocrite, 

first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; 

and then shalt thou see clearly

to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

John 8:7 

King James Version

7 So when they continued asking him, 

he lifted up himself, 

and said unto them, 

He that is without sin among you, 

let him first cast a stone at her.

What now?
