RIGHTEOUSNESS is of GOD

 

Philippians 3:9 

King James Version

9 And be found in him, 

not having mine own righteousness, 

which is of the law, 

but that which is through the faith of Christ, 

the righteousness which is of God by faith:

What is righteousness?

Scripture defines it best, through these wonderful, and heartening verses, glorifying God, through Jesus.

The righteousness of God is in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, 

who knew no sin; 

that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The Lord loves righteousness.

Psalm 11:7 (KJV)

7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; 

his countenance doth behold the upright.

We must seek the righteousness of God.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, 

and his righteousness; 

and all these things shall be added unto you.

Only God is righteous.

Romans 3:23 (KJV)

23 For all have sinned, 

and come short of the glory of God;

We must put on the new self, patterned after the righteousness of God.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (KJV)

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, 

which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, 

which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

The righteous Lord took on our sins, so He can bring us to God.

1 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, 

the just for the unjust, 

that he might bring us to God, 

being put to death in the flesh, 

but quickened by the Spirit:

We need to repent for our sins.

1 John 1:9 (KJV)

9 If we confess our sins, 

he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, 

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Only through Jesus can we be redeemed.

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (KJV)

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, 

who of God is made unto us wisdom, 

and righteousness, 

and sanctification, 

and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, 

He that glorieth, 

let him glory in the Lord.

We must do, and teach righteousness, according to the laws of God.

Matthew 5:19 (KJV)

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, 

and shall teach men so, 

he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: 

but whosoever shall do and teach them, 

the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Be perfect in Christ.

Matthew 5:20 (KJV)

20 For I say unto you, 

That except your righteousness 

shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, 

ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Only through Jesus can we escape lust.

2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: 

that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, 

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Only through Jesus are we justified.

Galatians 2:16 (KJV)

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, 

but by the faith of Jesus Christ, 

even we have believed in Jesus Christ, 

that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, 

and not by the works of the law: 

for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Jesus is our advocate with the Father.

And if any man sin, 

we have an advocate with the Father, 

Jesus Christ the righteous:

God gives us the gift of grace.

lest any man should boast.

The just shall live by faith.

A righteous man's prayer has great power in it.

James 5:16 (KJV)

16 Confess your faults one to another, 

and pray one for another, 

that ye may be healed. 

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Christ is our best model for righteousness.

Romans 10:4 (KJV)

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness 

to every one that believeth.
