1 Corinthians 10:13
King James Version
13 There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.
What are you addicted to?
Are you aware you are addicted?
What would you consider an addiction?
How does one conquer addiction?
"Addiction" is defined as:
"Addiction is an inability to stop using a substance or engaging in a behavior even though it is causing psychological and physical harm."
There are THREE main addictions SPIRIT led me to:
Fame.
Fortune.
Flesh.
All three are birthed by pride, greed, vanity, and lust.
The very sins of the father of lies.
The devil's devices.
Since we're all in the flesh, we are bound by the sins of the flesh.
The enemy makes sure we focus on the lusts of the flesh.
It is self-serving, self-absorbed, and not of GOD.
The world is being destroyed by sins of the flesh.
There's substance abuse.
Even addiction to food, or gluttony.
Observe the food shows everywhere.
It's all food, food, food.
Competing for who cooks better.
Who has the best dish.
Who can whip up the fastest dish.
Making us all overweight, overfed, overindulged, bringing on many other diseases.
Movies show violence, lots of skin, and foul language.
Every form of aberration, or deviation, abound.
Many are addicted to such shows.
Many are addicted to such printed material.
Because people in business, schools, government, and the entertainment industry have scrapped GOD out of their lives, you can imagine we are in the devil's cesspool.
Even churches have been corrupted.
They have defiled the very gospel they teach.
Where the devil finds a tiny opening, a window of opportunity, a weakness, or a desire, he will surely latch on to it.
Everything has become me, me, me.
How the enemy loves that we focus on self.
Or, at least, the self where he's in.
And where he's at.
Self gratification.
What is addiction, after all, but an absence of GOD?
It is the road to self-destruction.
If you have GOD, you have EVERYTHING.
You won't need to look outside of Him, for happiness.
You won't need to fill your days, or your life, with worthless pursuits.
Addiction invites decadence, depravity, and destruction.
It's a form of escape, from the stresses of the world.
We are all being drawn down into the pits of hell.
How the enemy delights in mocking God.
We are fighting powers beyond our human powers.
This is truly a spiritual battle.
Ephesians 6:12
King James Version
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities,
against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Satan is constantly on the prowl.
1 Peter 5:8
King James Version
8 Be sober,
be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion,
walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour:
In these end times, he's upped his game.
Revelation 12:12
King James Version
12 Therefore rejoice,
ye heavens,
and ye that dwell in them.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!
for the devil is come down unto you,
having great wrath,
because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Evil makes itself complex, to confuse us.
We are bombarded on ALL fronts.
Only THROUGH JESUS, can we conquer sin, self, and addictions.
JESUS knows what we're going through.
In fact, He already KNEW what we would go through, thus, the CROSS.
Hebrews 2:14
King James Version
14 Forasmuch then as the children
are partakers of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him
that had the power of death,
that is, the devil;
In this battle for the soul -- FROM addiction -- we can only succeed in quitting cold turkey, if we:
ARE born again.
WALK in the SPIRIT.
PUT ON the FULL ARMOR of GOD.
STAY STRONG in JESUS.
The LORD assured us:
John 16:33
King James Version
33 These things I have spoken unto you,
that in me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation:
but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world.
THROUGH JESUS, we shall overcome sin.
We shall conquer addictions.
Anything which destroys us.
